Aldo López-Gavilán Returns to Phoenix with the Harlem Quartet

January 8, 2027 | Phoenix Chamber Music Society

Concert pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán returns to the Phoenix Chamber Music Society, this time joining the Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet for an evening featuring his original compositions alongside Beethoven’s celebrated String Quartet No. 11, Op. 95, “Serioso.”

The program highlights López-Gavilán’s distinctive musical language, bringing together classical traditions, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and jazz influences. Featured works include Epílogo, Aegean Dream, Talking to the Universe, and Pan con Timba.

The concert also brings Aldo together with his brother, violinist Ilmar Gavilán, a founding member of the Harlem Quartet. Their longstanding artistic collaboration is celebrated in Havana Meets Harlem, their acclaimed 2024 recording, which received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Album in 2025.

The performance will take place on Friday, January 8, 2027, at 7:30 p.m., at Camelback Bible Church in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
