Aldo and Harlem Quartet at Sears Recital Hall
The New York-based Harlem Quartet, most recently quartet-in-residence at London’s Royal College of Music, has been praised for its “panache” by The New York Times. Since its 2006 Carnegie Hall debut, the ensemble has been an audience favorite, including here at the University of Dayton in 2019. This season, they return with Cuban pianist/composer Aldo López-Gavilán — brother of the quartet’s violinist Ilmar Gavilán. Their program will feature works by this rising Cuban composer, as well as compositions by Jobin, Gillespie and Strayhorn.
