Aldo López-Gavilán to Perform at Havana’s XV International Chamber Music Festival

Havana, Cuba — October 2026 — Pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán will join Alma String Quartet for a performance at the XV Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara, taking place in Havana from October 29 through November 1.

The concert will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. in Sala Covarrubias at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba.

The appearance brings López-Gavilán together with Alma String Quartet in the setting of one of Havana’s international chamber music gatherings. The festival presents Cuban and international musicians in a programme of concerts, master classes and other activities at venues throughout the city.

This year’s edition is chaired by acclaimed Cuban pianist and composer Frank Fernández and pays tribute to the musical legacies of Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich, placing two major figures of 20th-century music at the centre of the festival.

For López-Gavilán, whose work as both concert pianist and composer has long brought together performance and composition, the festival offers another opportunity to explore music in the intimacy and collaborative spirit of the chamber setting.
